Here are two pictures of Cambodian children. The first has them centered; the second follows the rule of thirds, with the subject off to the right. While I like both photos because they're so gosh darn cute, I think the second one has a more artsy feel to it. For whatever the reason, the rule of thirds rarely seems to fail at being more aesthetically pleasing.

I agree they are both great pictures. I do love the bottom with the little girl. I especially like everyone in the background watching. I'm sure this is really special for them as well. Thanks for sharing your trip, what an awesome experience for you!
ReplyDeletegreat example of the rule of thirds, i also like the bottom picture a lot. i think that having the suject off center allows for more depth in the picture as a whole
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your pictures. I dont get to see the images you are capturing, ever. These kiddos are so cute and make for really great photography subjects. I think the photo of the little girl alone off set makes for a better photo, but you are definatly coming home with some great photos for memories!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I especially like the bottom one. Its good to see that at least one of us is getting out of Vermont once in a while.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on this example. We all love the top photo for the subject matter ... but the bottom example on the rule of thirds is stunning!
